Benefits of the Wind Sail Receptor:
Footprint Reduction: Smaller footprint for the same/similar output. Our towers are expected to be utility pole height and our blade diameters will be under 60 feet. Compare this to standard windmills of over 200 feet in height and blade diameters of over 100 feet. In fact, the largest designs now require towers that stretch to over 400 feet and blade diameters that exceed 200 feet! Smaller Environmental Impact: Tip speeds on large windmills can exceed 200 miles per hour. These fast wind speeds create noise. Our shorter, wider blades don’t have high tip speeds and create virtually no noise. Slower tip speeds also mean less risk to birds and bats. You also won’t see our windmills from 30 miles away because they are closer to the ground. We even color the blades to match the surrounding environment. (You should see our Banana Leaf Green). Reduce the Cost to Purchase and Install: Need we say more? Unsurpassed Ease of Installation: Because of materials and manufacturing techniques, we can fit our entire windmill system into a single ocean shipping container – which makes it a lot easier (and less expensive) to transport to remote areas where other systems can never go. Reduced Maintenance Costs: Typical maintenance costs run about one third of those associated with standard windmills. No expensive cranes. No long wait for replacement blades or other parts. Extended Operating Range: Wind Sail Receptors can operate in winds as slow as 5 miles per hour to winds exceeding 60 miles per hour. This extended operating range means more wattage output over time compared to other systems. (See graph above.) Reduced Complexity: No potentiometers, servo motors, hydraulics and other complex systems are necessary. The urethane blades self-adjust to wind speed and will not stress like fiberglass and carbon fiber blades. Time to Market: The current backlog for windmill companies to produce and deliver to a project is running into the years. For example, manufacturing 200 foot windmill blades is an expensive and time consuming process (each blade requiring months to build). We can manufacture a blade in less than 14 minutes. This means that in a single year, we can produce tens of thousands of wind capture devices and dramatically accelerate the ability to capture wind power on a large scale. Shorter ROI: Depending on the location and local power costs, our systems can provide a complete return on initial investment is as little as three years. Economically Sustainable: The Wind Sail Receptor operates so efficiently that we encourage organizations to build their economic models without counting government subsidies, tax credits or other incentives. No one knows how long they’ll last and not all countries provide such benefits. We believe our systems should stand on their own economically. And they do. |
